How can I store a One Touch or Speed Dial number from my Brother machine's Caller ID History?

  • Caller ID is a telephone service. The service name may vary depending on your area.

  • Caller ID service varies with different carriers. Call your local telephone company to find out about the kind of service available in your area.

If you subscribe to your telephone company's Caller ID Service, you can store One Touch or Speed Dial numbers from your Brother machine's Caller ID History by following these steps:


  1. Press HISTORY on the touch screen.

  2. Press CALLER ID HIST.

  3. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW to display the name or number you want to store.

  4. Press the name or number you want to store.

  5. Press MORE.

  6. Do one of the following:

    To store the number as a One Touch number, follow these steps:

    1. Press ADD TO ONE TOUCH DIAL.

    2. To choose where the number will be stored, do one of the following:

      • To accept the displayed next-available One Touch location, go to STEP c.

      • Enter a different One Touch location using the keys on the touch screen.

    If the One Touch location you select is already taken, the OK button on the Brother machine's LCD will not work. Select another One Touch location.


    1. Press OK.

    2. Do one of the following:

      • If you want to store the displayed name, go to STEP e.

      • Enter a new name (up to 16 characters) using the keys on the touch screen.

      • To store the number without a name, go to STEP e.


    3. Press OK.

    4. Press OK again to confirm the fax or telephone number.

    5. When the Brother machine's LCD shows your settings, press OK again to confirm them.

    6. Go to STEP 7.


    To store the number as a Speed Dial number, follow these steps:

    1. Press ADD TO SPEED DIAL.

    2. Do one of the following:

      • If you want to store the displayed name, go to STEP c.

      • Enter a new name (up to 16 characters) using the keys on the touch screen.

      • To store the number without a name, go to STEP c.


    3. Press OK.

    4. Press OK again to confirm the fax or telephone number.

    5. Do one of the following:

      • Enter a second fax or telephone number using the keys on the touch screen.

      • If you do not want to store a second number on this Speed Dial location, go to STEP f.


    6. Press OK.

    7. To choose where the number(s) will be stored, do one of the following:

      • To accept the next available Speed Dial location, go to STEP h.

      • Enter a different two-digit Speed Dial location using the keys on the touch screen.

    Speed Dial locations begin with #; for example, to use Speed Dial location 02, you should enter #, 0, 2.



    1. Press OK.

    2. When the Brother machine's LCD shows your settings, press OK again to confirm them.

    3. Go to STEP 7.

  7. Press the STOP/EXIT key.
