How do I store numbers on my Brother machine for easy dialing? (One-Touch, Speed Dial)

You can store Speed Dial numbers on your Brother machine for easy dialing. If you lose electrical power, auto-dial numbers stored in memory will not be lost.


Storing Speed Dial Numbers

Speed Dial numbers are stored as two-digit locations on the dial pad of your Brother machine. Once you have designated a number to a Speed Dial location, said number can be dialed by pressing Search/Speed Dial, the two-digit Speed Dial number, then the Black Start or Color Start key. Your Brother machine can store 80 Speed Dial locations, and each location can have two numbers attached to it. To store Speed Dial numbers, please follow these steps:

  1. Press the Menu key.
  2. Press the Up or Down Arrow key to choose "Fax."
  3. Press the OK key to confirm your choice.
  4. Press the Up or Down Arrow key to choose "Set Quick Dial."
  5. Press the OK key to confirm your choice.
  6. Press the Up or Down Arrow key to choose "Speed-Dial."
  7. Press the OK key to confirm your choice.
  8. Press the Up or Down Arrow key to choose the two-digit location on which you want to store the number.
  9. Press the OK key to confirm your choice.
  10. Use the dial pad to enter the name or company name (up to 15 characters) and press the OK key

    -OR-

    If you want to store the number without a name, just press the OK key.
  11. Enter the number you want to store (up to 20 digits) and press the OK key.
  12. If you want to associate a second number with this Speed Dial location, enter that number and press the OK key

    -OR-

    If you do not want to store an additional number on this Speed Dial location, simply press the OK key.
  13. Return to STEP 8 to set up another Speed Dial location

    -OR-

    Press the Stop/Exit key to exit the menu.

 

Changing or Deleting Speed Dial Numbers

You can change or delete a Speed Dial number that has already been stored by following these steps:

  1. Press the MENU key.
  2. Press the Up or Down Arrow key to choose "Fax."
  3. Press the OK key to confirm your choice.
  4. Press the Up or Down Arrow key to choose "Set Quick Dial."
  5. Press the OK key to confirm your choice.
  6. Press the Up or Down Arrow key to choose "Speed-Dial."
  7. Press the OK key to confirm your choice.
  8. Press the Up or Down Arrow key to choose the two-digit location you want to change or delete.
  9. Press the OK key to confirm your choice.
  10. To change the stored number, press the Up or Down Arrow key to choose "Change," press the OK key, then go to STEP 11

    -OR-

    To delete the stored number, press the Up or Down Arrow key to choose "Delete," press the OK key, press the 1 key to confirm the deletion, and press the Stop/Exit key to exit the menu.

    To delete or change stored numbers, please follow these steps:

    • If you want to erase the whole number, press the Clear key when the cursor is to the left of the digits. Everything above and to the right of the cursor is deleted.
    • If you want to change a digit, use the Left or Right Arrow key to position the cursor under the digit you want to change, then type over it.
  11. Use the dial pad to change the name or company name (up to 15 characters) and press the OK key.

    -OR-

    If you do not want to change the name, just press the OK key.
  12. Enter the new fax or telephone number you want to store (up to 20 digits) and press the OK key.
    -OR-
    If you do not want to change the stored number, just press the OK key.
  13. Enter the second number you want to store on this Speed Dial location and press the OK key
    -OR-
    If you do not want to change the stored number, just press the OK key.
  14. Press the Stop/Exit key to exit the menu.
