What do the indicator lights mean?

The indicators light and flash to indicate the printer's status. The following symbols are used in this FAQ to explain the meaning of the different indicator colors and patterns.

Green lit  or  Orange lit  or  Red lit Indicator is lit in the color shown
Green flashing  or  Orange flashing  or  Red flashing Indicator is flashing in the color shown
Off Indicator is off

*1 Cooling mode Wait until the lamp stops flashing and then try printing again.
Red flashing
(Once every 2 seconds)
*1 Tape end error Replace the DK roll with a new one.
Feed error Check that the DK roll is installed correctly. If not, remove the DK roll and reinstall it.
No media error Install the DK roll.
Wrong media error In the printer driver or P-touch Editor, specify the label width to match the one that is installed.
Cover open error Check that the DK Roll compartment cover is closed.
Database search error - There is no database with the specified number. Specify a correct number.
- The search for a template with a linked database fails. Search again.
No template error - There is no template with the specified number. Specify a correct number.
- When printing a template, the specified template does not exist. Select the correct template, and then print again.
Access point search error - The access point could not be found. Try connecting again.
- An access point for establishing a connection could not be specified. Confirm the WPS setting environment (distance between the access point and the printer, presence of obstructions, and so on) for the access point, and then configure the WPS settings for the printer again.
Access point connection error If you are using two or more access points, reduce the number of access points to one, and then connect the printer again.
Security error Configure the wireless settings using WPS again.
Red flashing
(Off for 0.9 seconds and flashes twice for 0.9 seconds)
*1 Cutter error Keep the DK roll compartment cover closed and press the ON/OFF button. The cutter moves back to the normal position and turns the machine OFF automatically.
After the machine is OFF, inspect the label outlet and remove any jammed labels.
Mass storage error The file system becomes corrupted or a file is copied while a mass storage file is being processed. Turn off the printer and then turn it on again.
Red flashing
(Once every 0.6 seconds)
Off System error Turn off the printer and then turn it on again. If the problem still occurs, contact Brother Customer Service.
Red lit Off Boot mode Turn off the printer and then turn it on again. If the problem still occurs, contact Brother Customer Service.
*2 Green flashing
(Once every 3 seconds)
Wi-Fi on, not connected  
Green lit Wi-Fi on, connected
