Driver/ Software/ Firmware/ Operating System Problem - Troubleshooting

General

• A message to install Java runtime appears when I start some applications on Mac OS X 10.7 or greater.
• The error message "An error occurred during the installation. ... . IS015- GetOsVersion - 1" appears when installing the Full Driver & Software Packages for Windows® 7 downloaded from the "Download" section.
• I'm using Mac OS® X 10.4/10.5 and installed Adobe® Photoshop® CS3, but my scanner is not detected in Photoshop CS3 although I can scan with ControlCenter2 or other applications. What should I do?
• When I load the Brother software, the installation will not continue past the instruction to connect the USB cable to the computer. What can I do? (USB interface, cable)
• Why does my computer become unresponsive when using the USB interface to connect the Brother machine?
• I'm connecting my Brother machine to the computer using the USB interface. The "Suspend Mode" of my computer does not work correctly. What can I do?
• I'm using Windows® 2000. I can't access my VPN using the Nortel VPN Client after installing the MFL-Pro software. What do I do?
• I am having a problem trying to use a Brother driver in a Windows Server® 2003 environment. I cannot print or scan. What should I do?
• When I connect the Brother machine to a USB hub, it doesn't work correctly.

MFL-Pro Suite

• I'm using Windows® 8. I insert the CD-ROM supplied with my machine into my PC's CD-ROM drive, but the error message "This CD does not contain drivers for your computer operating system." appears.
• I'm using Windows® 7. I insert the CD-ROM supplied with my machine into my PC's CD-ROM drive, but　the error message "This CD does not contain drivers for your computer operating system." appears.
• I'm trying to install the driver with network settings, but the installation wizard is not able to locate the Brother machine on my network, I'm getting the message "No devices could be found over the network".

Printer Driver

• When installing the Macintosh OS X printer driver it displays a message that you need to type your password to install this software.
• I'm trying to install the driver with network settings, but I cannot locate a network connected Brother machine and complete the driver installation. (For Windows®)
• I am using Windows® XP, and the driver installation failed. I cannot uninstall or reinstall the driver.

ControlCenter

• The error message "xxxx cannot be found. ... (CC3-202-03031b02)" appears when scanning a document using ControlCenter3 on Windows® 7 with the USB connection.
• I'm using Mac OS® X 10.5. When trying to scan using the Brother ControlCenter2 with the USB interface, the ControlCenter2 screen will close. What should I do?

Remote Setup

• I'm using Windows® 2000. I'm using a computer without a serial port. I can't use Remote Setup or I can't receive a PC-FAX. What do I do?

Operating System (Windows®)

• When I look in the processes tab of my Windows® PC, I see that the BRMFRSMG.EXE, BRSS01A.EXE, BRSVC01A.EXE processes are running. What are they and can I stop the processes from running?
• Windows® XP does not shut down and freezes at "Windows is shutting down". What can I do?

Operating System (Macintosh)

• The message "xxxxxxx.xxx can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer." appears on OS X v10.8.x. (where xxxxxxx.xxx is the file name.)
• I cannot find Macintosh HD icon on the desktop.
• I installed drivers from the bundled CD-ROM but I cannot print. (Mac OS X 10.5 or greater)
