Before downloading the tool:

This program requires Java Runtime (Environment). If it is not installed on your computer, you cannot run this program.
 


For Windows® 98/98SE/Me/2000/XP Users:

The version of Java Runtime (Environment) you require is Ver.1.4.2_03 or later.

If Java Runtime (Environment) is not installed on your computer or your Java Runtime (Environment) version is older than Ver.1.4.2_03, install from ORACLE® web site. http://java.com/

Note: If you are using Windows® 2000 Professional/ XP, you need to log on to your computer with Administrator rights to install Java Runtime (Environment).

 


For Windows Vista® Users:

The version of Java Runtime (Environment) you require is Version 6 or later.

If Java Runtime (Environment) is not installed on your computer or your Java Runtime (Environment) version is older than Version 6, install from ORACLE® web site. http://java.com/

Before installing Java Runtime (Environment)

If MS JavaVM is already installed, when you install Java Runtime (Environment), some applications might not work properly.
For example, Content Management Server, Encarta, Internet Explorer 5.5, Internet Explorer 5.01, Internet Explorer 4.00, Money, Operations Manager Server 2000, etc.

If you are using applications based on MS JavaVM other than Microsoft, please contact the developer.
If the application works based on MS JavaVM using web browser, try to uncheck the Java(Sun) box in the 'Advanced' tab of the 'Internet Properties'.

For wireless network users:

We strongly recommend that you update the firmware using a wired LAN or USB connection. Updating the firmware using a wireless LAN connection may fail if the connection becomes unstable.
 

Notes when updating the firmware:

Please make sure that the machine you are going to update the firmware is not busy. Also, make sure that there is no data left in the machine memory when running the firmware update tool.

 

The following data will be deleted when you update the firmware.

  • Secured print data stored in the memory
  • Secured reprint data stored in the memory

 

Please check the following before updating the firmware.

Please check the following on your computer.

  • Open Printer Properties and confirm that your printer is functioning correctly by printing a test page.
  • Please close all applications and TSR's.
  • If you are using a Windows XP SP2 Firewall or other Firewall software, disable it.

It is not possible to update the firmware unless the following conditions are met on you machine.

  • The machine is not receiving or processing the data. (Make sure the Data LED is off or not blinking)
  • The machine is not printing a document.
  • The machine is not in the Settings Menu.
  • There's no error message on LCD panel.

Please do not turn off the machine until firmware update finishes.


 

How to download and update the firmware

If you see the following error message "Program failed to run",click here to learn how to solve the problem.


Notes:

  • You must be logged on as an Administrator.
  • If the "User Account Control" prompt is displayed, click "Continue".
     

[When the machine is connected to the PC via USB]

  1. Please make a temporary directory on your HDD to save the downloaded file. e.g. C:\bront
  2. Start downloading.
  3. Once downloading is completed, make sure that the machine is connected to the PC with a USB cable.
  4. Double click the downloaded file.
  5. You need to specify how you are connected to the internet. To see the internet connection options that you can select,click here.
  6. Please follow the instructions on the screen.
  7. The update will start.
  8. When the "Successfully Completed" message is displayed, click 'Done'.


 

[When the machine is connected to the network]

  1. Please make a temporary directory on your HDD to save the downloaded file. e.g. C:\bront
  2. Start downloading.
  3. Once downloading is completed, double click the downloaded file.
  4. You need to specify how you are connected to the internet. To see the internet connection options that you can select, click here.
  5. Please follow the instructions on the screen.
  6. The update will start.
  7. When the "Successfully Completed" message is displayed, click 'Done'.
  8. If you have other machines connected to the network, you can update the firmware on these machines by clicking 'Continue' and selecting the model you would like to update the firmware.
