Driver/ Software/ Firmware/ Operating System Problem - Troubleshooting

General

• A message to install Java runtime appears when I start some applications on Mac OS X 10.7 or greater.
• I'm using Mac OS® X 10.4, but my scanner is not detected in Adobe® Photoshop® CS3 although I can scan with ControlCenter2 or other applications.
• When I load the Brother software, the installation will not continue past the instruction to connect the USB cable to the computer.
• My computer hangs when connect with a USB Cable.
• I'm connecting my Brother machine to the computer using the USB interface. The "Suspend Mode" of my computer does not work correctly.
• I am having a problem trying to use a Brother driver in a Windows Server® 2003 environment. I cannot print or scan.
• When I connect the Brother machine to a USB hub, it doesn't work correctly.
• I can not install/uninstall the driver when a card is installed into the media slot.

ScanSoft™ PaperPort™

• I'm using Windows® XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). I cannot uninstall PaperPort® 8.0 or I uninstalled PaperPort® 8.0 and I'm not able to reinstall it now. What can I do?
• When I try to OCR into WordPad using the PaperPort® 8.0SE or 9.0SE program or the Brother Control Center, the text comes out as gibberish. This started after I installed Windows® XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).
• The white horizontal lines appears on the printed image from the PaperPort® software
• The link icon for Outlook Express is not displayed in PaperPort®.
• I'm using Windows® XP. When I try to install PaperPort® 8.0, I get an error message "PaperPort Setup Wizard Terminated" and I can't remove it from "Add or Remove Programs".
• I'm using Windows® XP. I can't uninstall PaperPort® 8.0 and I get an error message "Fatal error during installation" . What can I do?
• I can't uninstall the PaperPort® 8.0SE software.
• I can't uninstall "PaperPort" from the "START" menu in Windows® 2000.
• PaperPort® 8.0SE doesn't output data as a PDF file.

MFL-Pro Suite

• The Error message "A file required cannot be found.(CC035)" appears when I click the "Remote Setup" or "Quick-Dial" button in ControlCenter2. (For Macintosh)
• I'm using Windows® 7. I insert the CD-ROM supplied with my machine into my PC's CD-ROM drive, but　the error message "This CD does not contain drivers for your computer operating system." appears.
• I'm trying to install the driver with network settings, but the installation wizard is not able to locate the Brother machine on my network, I'm getting the message "No devices could be found over the network".
• MFL-Pro Suite (MFC Software Suite) does not work after installing a Windows® Service Pack.
• When I insert the CD-ROM supplied with my machine the installation screen does not automatically start on my Windows® PC.
• I'm using Windows®. I tried to install the software, but the installation failed and now I can not remove the portions that did install. What can I do?
• The error message "The MFL Pro Software is already installed! To reinstall, please uninstall the software first then run this installation program again" appears on my Windows® PC.

Printer Driver

• I'm trying to install the driver with network settings, but I cannot locate a network connected Brother machine and complete the driver installation. (For Windows®)
• The driver installation failed. I cannot uninstall or reinstall the driver on my Windows® XP PC.

ControlCenter

• The Error message "A file required cannot be found.(CC035)" appears when I click the "Remote Setup" or "Quick-Dial" button in ControlCenter2. (For Macintosh)
• I'm using Mac OS® X 10.5. When trying to scan using the Brother ControlCenter2 with the USB interface, the ControlCenter2 screen will close.
• I cannot save the changes I make in the settings for the MFL-Pro Control Center using Windows® XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).
• I can't copy from the MFL Pro Control Center. What can I do?
• I continue to receive the Error Message "Runtime Error 2147417848 (80010108) Automation Error Brother MFL Pro Control Center" when I start Windows® XP.
• The "Brother MFL-Pro Control Center" does not pop up when the document is placed into the ADF unit.

Operating System (Windows®)

• I cannot install the Windows® 7 built-in drivers from the Windows Update provided by Microsoft®.
• The error message "Can not load Word for Windows 6.0 files" appears at the end of the software installation. I have installed Windows® XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).
• When I look in the processes tab of my Windows® PC, I see that the BRMFRSMG.EXE, BRSS01A.EXE, BRSVC01A.EXE processes are running.
• Windows® XP does not shut down and freezes at "Windows is shutting down". What can I do?

Operating System (Macintosh)

• The message "*****.*** can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer." appears on OS X v10.8.x. (where *****.*** is the file name.)
• I cannot find the Macintosh HD icon on the desktop.
• I installed drivers from the bundled CD-ROM but I cannot print (Mac OS X 10.5 or greater)
• I have a problem using my machine with Mac OS® X Classic mode.
