Driver/ Software/ Firmware/ Operating System Problem - Troubleshooting

General

• I cannot open the User's Guide from the CD-ROM provided with the product. (Windows® 8)
• I cannot install the driver on Macintosh from the CD-ROM supplied with my Brother machine. (For Mac OS X 10.7.x / 10.8.x)
• A message to install Java runtime appears when I start some applications on Mac OS X 10.7 or greater.
• The installer does not start after extracting the Full Driver & Software Packages downloaded from the "Download" section. (For Windows®)
• When I install MFL-Pro Suite from the CD-ROM or Full Driver & Software Package from the "Downloads" section, the installation will not continue past the instruction to connect the USB cable to the computer.
• When I install the drivers, Norton AntiVirus displays a Security Alert that a medium risk application "xxxxx.exe is attempting to connect to a DNS server".
• When I connect the Brother machine to a USB hub, it doesn't work correctly.

MFL-Pro Suite

• The error message "IS052 InstallNetworkDriver" appears when installing the MFL-Pro Suite from the CD-ROM or the Full Driver & Software Package is downloaded from the "Download" section.
• I install the drivers from the CD-ROM, but the installation failed and the following error message appears: "1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime". (For Windows® XP users only)
• I'm using Windows® 8. I insert the CD-ROM supplied with my machine into my PC's CD-ROM drive, but the error message "This CD does not contain drivers for your computer operating system." appears.
• When I try to install the MFL-Pro Suite from the CD-ROM, the error dialogue appears and I cannot continue installing the MFL-Pro Suite.  The error says "Install the latest Windows® Service Pack and try again".
• I'm trying to install the driver with network settings, but the installation wizard is not able to locate the Brother machine on my network, I'm getting the message "No devices could be found over the network".
• MFL-Pro Suite Software does not work after installing a Windows® Service Pack.
• I'm using Windows®. I insert the CD-ROM supplied with my machine into my PC's CD-ROM drive, but the installation screen is not automatically displayed on the PC.
• The error message "The MFL Pro Software is already installed! To reinstall, please uninstall the software first then run this installation program again" appears. (For Windows®)

Printer Driver

• When installing the Macintosh OS X printer driver it displays a message that you need to type your password to install this software.
• I want to change the printer driver settings, but the OK button of the printing preferences dialog box is out of the PC screen and I cannot click on it.
• In Windows®, the Brother printer or scanner driver windows are in a foreign language. How can I change the printer or scanner driver windows to be in a local language?
• I'm trying to install the driver with network settings, but I cannot locate a network connected Brother machine and complete the driver installation. (For Windows®)

ControlCenter

• When I attempt to launch ControlCenter4, the application will not open or only opens a partial or blank window with no scan options.
• I cannot start ControlCenter4.

Network Software

• I updated the Web BRAdmin and cannot enable the logging function.
• My Antivirus Software gives a warning message during the installation of Web BRAdmin.

Firmware

• I cannot update my Brother machine's firmware using the Firmware Update Tool. (For Windows® 7/ 8)

Operating System (Macintosh)

• The message "xxxxxxx.xxx can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer." appears on OS X v10.8.x. (where xxxxxxx.xxx is the file name.)
• I cannot find Macintosh HD icon on the desktop.
• I installed drivers from the bundled CD-ROM but I cannot print. (Mac OS X 10.5 or greater)
