Driver/ Software/ Firmware/ Operating System Problem - Troubleshooting

General

• A message to install Java runtime appears when I start some applications on Mac OS X 10.7 or greater.
• The error message "An error occurred during the installation. ... . IS015- GetOsVersion - 1" appears when installing the Full Driver & Software Packages for Windows® 7 downloaded from the "Download" section.
• I'm using Mac OS® X 10.4/10.5 and installed Adobe® Photoshop® CS3, but my scanner is not detected in Photoshop CS3 although I can scan with ControlCenter2 or other applications. What should I do?
• I'm using Windows Vista®. When I try to install the Full Driver & Software Package I receive the error message "Unhandled Exception". What should I do?
• I'm using Firefox® 2.0 or higher as a web browser. I clicked the "Close this window" button on the page that was opened along with the HTML manual, however the browser window does not close. What can I do?
• When I load the Brother software, the installation will not continue past the instruction to connect the USB cable to the computer. What can I do? (USB interface, cable)
• When I install the drivers, Norton AntiVirus displays a Security Alert that a medium risk application "xxxxx.exe is attempting to connect to a DNS server".
• Why does my computer become unresponsive when using the USB interface to connect the Brother machine?
• When I connect the Brother machine to a USB hub, it doesn't work correctly.
• I can not install/uninstall the driver when a CompactFlash®, Memory Stick®, Memory Stick Pro™, xD-Picture Card™, SecureDigital™, MultiMediaCard™ or USB Flash memory drive is installed into the media slot. What can I do?

ScanSoft™ PaperPort™

• When I try to scan a document using ScanSoft™ PaperPort™ 11SE, I can not scan from the ADF (automatic document feeder) with WIA driver.
• When I scan the document with using ScanSoft™ PaperPort™ 11 SE , the bottom of the document is cut off. What should I do?
• When scanning to OCR from ScanSoft™ PaperPort™ 11SE, the following error message appears: "System error incurred in external Link module EZText.g32. The OCR server is unable to process the document". I have Windows® XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed.
• When I try to OCR into WordPad using ScanSoft™ PaperPort™ 11SE with OCR or Brother ControlCenter3, the text comes out as gibberish. This started after I installed Windows® XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).

MFL-Pro Suite

• The error message "IS052 InstallNetworkDriver" appears when installing the MFL-Pro Suite from the CD-ROM or the Full Driver & Software Package is downloaded from the "Download" section.
• I'm using Windows® 8. I insert the CD-ROM supplied with my machine into my PC's CD-ROM drive, but the error message "This CD does not contain drivers for your computer operating system." appears.
• I'm using Windows® 7. I insert the CD-ROM supplied with my machine into my PC's CD-ROM drive, but　the error message "This CD does not contain drivers for your computer operating system." appears.
• When I try to install the MFL-Pro Suite from the CD-ROM, the error dialogue appears and I cannot continue installing the MFL-Pro Suite.  The error says "Install the latest Windows® Service Pack and try again".
• I'm trying to install the driver with network settings, but the installation wizard is not able to locate the Brother machine on my network, I'm getting the message "No devices could be found over the network".
• MFL-Pro Suite Software does not work after installing a Windows® Service Pack.
• I'm using Windows®. I insert the CD-ROM supplied with my machine into my PC's CD-ROM drive, but the installation screen is not automatically displayed on the PC.
• The error message "The MFL Pro Software is already installed! To reinstall, please uninstall the software first then run this installation program again" appears. (For Windows®)

Printer Driver

• When installing the Macintosh OS X printer driver it displays a message that you need to type your password to install this software.

ControlCenter

• The error message "xxxx cannot be found. ... (CC3-202-03031b02)" appears when scanning a document using ControlCenter3 on Windows® 7 with the USB connection.
• I'm using Mac OS® X 10.5. When trying to scan using the Brother ControlCenter2 with the USB interface, the ControlCenter2 screen will close. What should I do?
• I cannot use the Scan to E-mail with ControlCenter3 after installing Office 2010.
• When I scan a document to a PDF file using ContorlCenter3, the file size of the PDF is too big. How can I reduce the file size?
• I cannot use the Scan to E-mail with Outlook2003 or Outlook2007 after updating ControlCenter3. The error message "command line argument is invalid" appears. What can I do?
• I'm trying to access a memory card or USB Flash memory drive through the network. I cannot use the functions in the "PHOTOCAPTURE" menu of ControlCenter3.

Network Software

• I updated the Web BRAdmin and cannot enable the logging function.
• My Antivirus Software gives a warning message during the installation of Web BRAdmin.

Operating System (Macintosh)

• The message "xxxxxxx.xxx can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer." appears on OS X v10.8.x. (where xxxxxxx.xxx is the file name.)
• I cannot find Macintosh HD icon on the desktop.
• I installed drivers from the bundled CD-ROM but I cannot print. (Mac OS X 10.5 or greater)
