Driver/ Software/ Firmware/ Operating System Problem - Troubleshooting

General

• I cannot install the driver on Macintosh from the CD-ROM supplied with my Brother machine. (For Mac OS X 10.7.x / 10.8.x)
• A message to install Java runtime appears when I start some applications on Mac OS X 10.7 or greater.
• Mac OS X connection problems.
• My "Protector Plus 2000" software has detected a virus on the CD-ROM. The Virus it found is called "Backdoor.Plugin.Bored" and it is located in the following files: PTRCFRE.DLL, PTRCGER.DLL, PTRCENG.DLL and many other language files. What should I do?
• When I load the Brother software, the installation will not continue past the instruction to connect the USB cable to the computer. What can I do? (USB interface, cable)
• I am having a problem trying to use a Brother driver in a Windows Server® 2003 environment. I cannot print or scan. What should I do?
• When I connect the Brother machine to a USB hub, it doesn't work correctly.

MFL-Pro Suite

• I'm using Windows® 8. I insert the CD-ROM supplied with my machine into my PC's CD-ROM drive, but the error message "This CD does not contain drivers for your computer operating system." appears.
• I'm using Windows® 7. I insert the CD-ROM supplied with my machine into my PC's CD-ROM drive, but　the error message "This CD does not contain drivers for your computer operating system." appears.

Printer Driver

• When installing the Macintosh OS X printer driver it displays a message that you need to type your password to install this software.
• I cannot uninstall the printer driver using Printer Driver Uninstall Tool. (For Windows® 7 users who use the printer driver with WSD connection only)
• I'm trying to install the driver with network settings, but I cannot locate a network connected Brother machine and complete the driver installation. (For Windows®)
• I am using Windows® XP, and the driver installation failed. I cannot uninstall or reinstall the driver.

Network Software

• I updated the Web BRAdmin and cannot enable the logging function.
• My Antivirus Software gives a warning message during the installation of Web BRAdmin.

Operating System (Windows®)

• The error message "Can not load Word for Windows 6.0 files" appears at the end of the software installation. I have installed Windows® XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). What should I do?

Operating System (Macintosh)

• The message "xxxxxxx.xxx can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer." appears on OS X v10.8.x. (where xxxxxxx.xxx is the file name.)
• I cannot find Macintosh HD icon on the desktop.
• I installed drivers from the bundled CD-ROM but I cannot print. (Mac OS X 10.5 or greater)
• In Mac OS® X 10.5 Leopard, the printer icon remains in the Dock after printing. How do I remove the printer icon from the Dock and keep it from returning?
