- How to download a Certificate and install it into your Client PC
After installing Active Directory® and configuring the CA Server settings, please install
a Certificate onto your client PC.
In this section, Windows® XP is used as a client PC.
Brother supports the following certificates;

- Self-signed certificate
- A Certificate from a CA Server
Please follow the instructions below.
- Downloading a Certificate

Type http://server_ip_address/Certsrv
into your browser to access a CA Server. (Where server_ip_address is a CA Server's IP address.)
E.g. http://192.168.1.4/ (if a CA Server's IP address is 192.168.1.4.) -
Enter your "ID" and "password".
ID : "Administrator"
Password : The word that you configure in the instruction A-I-9.

Do not forget your "ID" and "password".
You are required to enter them whenever you access a CA Server.

Click "Download a CA certificate, certificate chain, or CRL".

Check "DER" in "Encoding method" and click "Download CA certificate".

The screen to download a Certificate appears.
Download a Certificate into the proper directory in your client PC.

Type http://server_ip_address/Certsrv
into your browser to access a CA Server. (Where server_ip_address is a CA Server's IP address.)

Installing a Certificate into your Client PC

Double click a downloaded file in the instruction B-I-5.
"certnew.cer" is configured as the default file name. -
When the "Certificate Information" screen appears, click "Install Certificate".

"Certificate Import Wizard" appears and click Next.

Check "Place all certificates in the following store", and click Browse....

"Select Certificate Store" screen appears.
Select "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" and click OK.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
- A "Security Warning" appears and click Yes.
- A "Successful" dialog appears and click OK.
- Close "Certificate Import Wizard".
- After finishing all the instructions above, please go to the next step, C. How to create and download a "CSR".
