  1. How to install an Enterprise CA feature into a CA Server and configure the CA Server settings in Windows Server® 2008

Before using an Enterprise CA feature in a CA Server through a Web browser, please install a Certificate and configure the CA Server settings.
In this section, Windows Server® 2008 is used as a CA Server.


Please follow the instructions below.

  1. Installing Active Directory ®


    1. Click Start -> Administrative Tools -> Server Manager.
    2. "Server Manager" screen appears. Click Roles and then Add Roles.

    3. Select Server Roles and then check Active Directory Domain Services box on.
      Click Next.

    4. Click Next and installation starts.

    5. Click Install.

    6. Click Close this wizard and launch the Active Directory Domain Services Installation Wizard (dcpromo.exe).

    7. The "Active Directory Domain Services Installation Wizard" starts. Click Next until "Choose a Deployment Configuration" screen appears.
    8. Choose Create a new domain in a new forest option and click Next.

    9. Type in the forest root domain.
      SSL
    10. Select Forest functional level and click Next.
      SSL
    11. Click Next until "Directory Services Restore Mode Administrator Password" screen appears.
    12. Enter a password that you want to use when using a CA feature.
    13. Click Next or Finish until this wizard finishes.
    14. After the wizard finishes, a CA Server requires restarting. Click Restart Now.

  2. Installing IIS (Internet Information Services) and a Certificate Service

    1. Click Start -> Administrative Tools -> Server Manager.
    2. "Server Manager" Screen appears. Click Roles and then Add Roles.

    3. Click on Server Roles and then check Active Directory Certificate Services box on, then Click Next.

    4. Click Next.

    5. Check Certification Authority Web Environment and click Next.

    6. Click Add Required Role Services.

    7. Click Next.
    8. Choose Enterprise option and click Next.

    9. Choose Root CA and click Next.
      SSL
    10. Click Next until "Configure CA Name" screen appears.
    11. Enter a unique name in "Common name of this CA".

    12. Click Next or Install until this wizard finishes.
    13. Installation starts. When finishes, the following window appears. Click Close.

    14. After finishing all the instructions above, please go to the next step, B. How to download a Certificate and install it into your Client PC.
