Title:

I have connected multiple printers of the same model to one PC but can only print from one of the machines.

Description:

Because each printer is assigned a unique serial number, when you connect another printer to your PC, it is automatically recognised as a different machine.

When the first printer is installed on a PC, "Brother XX-XXXX" printer driver is created. If you connect additional printers of the same model to the PC, new printer drivers such as "Brother XX-XXXX (Copy 1)" and "Brother XX-XXXX (Copy 2)" are created.

You need to select the correct printer driver in the printing application according to the printer you are currently using.

  1. Turn on the printer you want to use.

  2. Open the printer folder in the following way.
    ■ Windows® 8
[Control Panel] in [Apps] screen - [Hardware and Sound] - [Devices and Printers]
    ■ Windows® 7
    [Start] - [Devices and Printers]
    ■ Windows Vista®
[Start] - [Control Panel] - [Hardware and Sound] - [Printers]
    ■ Windows® XP
[Start] - [Control Panel] - [Printers and Faxes]
  3. Change the icon view to [Tiles]. You will then be able to see the printer names and their current status.
The printer driver whose status is showing as "ready" is corresponding to the printer you have turned on in step 1.

Note

Each printer drivers name can be changed. Rename each printer driver to something which you can use to identify the different machines.

Example:

Brother XX-XXXX > Brother XX-XXXX A

Brother XX-XXXX (Copy 1) > Brother XX-XXXX B

  1. In P-touch Editor, click on [File] and select [Printer/Page Setup...] to display the Printer Setup dialog box.

    file_pagesetup

Select the correct printer from the pull-down menu and click [OK].

    printer_setup

Now you can print labels out from the correct printer.
