Follow the steps listed below to resolve the issue.
- Verify that there are no error messages on the display of the Brother machine. If an error is present perform necessary steps to clear the error before proceeding. Refer to "FAQs & Troubleshooting" for information on the error message you are receiving.
- Verify that the USB cable is securely connected from the Brother machine directly to the Macintosh. Do not connect the USB cable to the USB ports on the keyboard of the Macintosh.
- Download and install the latest scanner driver which is available in the Downloads section of the Brother Solutions Center.
- Open the Device Selector and select your machine by following the steps below.
- Click the Macintosh HD (your hard drive) icon. (If you don't find the Macintosh HD icon on the desktop, click here.)
- Open the Library folder.
- Open the Printers folder.
- Open the Brother folder.
- Open the Utilities folder.
- Open the DeviceSelector folder.
- Double click on Device Selector.
- Select USB as the connection type.
- Your machine name will appear on the list. Select your machine and click OK.
- Click OK to close the Device Selector.
