How can I adjust my Brother machine's paper type?

Description:

For the best print quality, we recommend that you set the Brother machine's Paper Type to reflect the type of paper you are using.


You can use the following types of paper for copying:

  • Thin (16 lb. – 18.4 lb. or 60 – 69g/m2): Thin paper or transparencies

  • Plain (18.7 lb. – 25.3 lb. or 70 – 95g/m2): Ordinary plain paper

  • Thick (25.6 lb. – 32 lb. or 96 – 120g/m2): Heavy weight paper or rough paper

  • Thicker (32.3 lb. – 42.1 lb. or 121 – 161g/m2): For heavier weight paper, rough paper, or bond paper

  • Transparency: Transparencies
You can adjust the default Paper Type setting or change the Paper Type for your next copy job.


To change your Brother machine's default Paper Type setting, follow these steps:

  1. Press MENU, 3 (Copy), 3 (Paper Type).

  2. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to select a paper type.

    - You can select Thin, Plain, Thick, or Thicker.

    Note

    Transparency is not available as a default Paper Type setting.


  3. Press the SET key.

  4. Press the STOP/EXIT key.


To change your Brother machine's Paper Type for your next copy job, follow these steps:

  1. Place the document(s) you want to copy face down in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).

  2. Press the OPTIONS key.

  3. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to select OPT: PAPER TYPE.

  4. Press the SET key.

  5. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to select a paper type.

    You can select Thin, Plain, Thick, Thicker, or Transparency.

  6. Press the SET key.

  7. Do one of the following:

    • Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to adjust additional copy settings.

    • Press the COPY key to start copying.
