Title:
Change the default paper size and the media type in Macintosh applications. Setup a custom page size.

Description:

The Paper Size can be changed from the application you are printing from. The instructions below apply to most applications. For assistance locating the Paper Size setting in a specific application, please refer to the application documentation, help files, or contact the application vender.


Note

The Printer Settings page printed from the printer lists the internal printer settings. The internal printer settings are overwritten by the settings within the application.


Use the Paper Size in the printer driver:

The instructions varies depending on your Operating System (OS). Choose your OS and follow the instructions.
Mac OS X 10.3.9 or 10.4.x | Mac OS X 10.5.x or later

[Mac OS X 10.3.9 or 10.4.x users]

  1. Set the Paper Size.
    * This instruction is both for Printer driver and BR-Script printer driver.

    1. Choose "Page Setup" from the File menu and open the Page Setup dialogue.
    2. Choose your printer name in the Format for and the appropriate paper size in the Paper Size.
      If the appropriate media type doesn't appear as the choice, please refer to the instructions of "Creating the custom page size" at the bottom of this instruction and create it.

    3. Click OK.


  2. Set the Media Type.

    1. Open Print dialog. (Click here to see the details of how to open Print dialog.)
    2. Choose the "Print Settings" option from the pop-up menu under the Presets.
    3. Click the Basic and choose the appropriate media type in the Media Type.
      If you want to print with the setting chosen in the steps above, click Print.
      If you want to print from the manual feed slot, please go to the step 4.

    4. Choose the "Paper Feed" option from the pop-up menu under the Presets.
    5. Choose the "Manual" in the ALL pages from and click Print.

    * if applicable

    1. Open Print dialog. (Click here to see the details of how to open Print dialog.)
    2. Choose "Printer Features" option from the pop-up menu under the Presets.
    3. Choose "Set 1" in the Feature Sets.
    4. Choose the appropriate media type in the Media Type.
      If you want to print with the setting chosen in the steps above, click Print.
      If you want to print from the manual feed slot,  please go to the step 5.

    5. Choose the "Paper Feed" option from the pop-up menu under the Presets.
    6. Choose the "Manual Feed" in the ALL pages from and click Print

  6. Choose the "Manual" in the ALL pages from and click Print.

  2. Choose the appropriate paper size in the Paper Size.
  3. Choose "Printer Features" from the print options pop-up menu.
  4. Choose "General 1" in the Feature Sets.
  5. Choose the appropriate media type in the Media Type.
    If you want to print with the setting chosen in the steps above, click Print.
    If you want to print from the manual feed slot, please go to the step 6.
    If the appropriate media type doesn't appear as the choice, please refer to the instructions of "Creating the custom page size" at the bottom of this instruction and create it.

  6. Choose the "Paper Feed" option from the print options pop-up menu.
  7. Choose the "Manual Feed" in the ALL pages from and click Print.

Create the Custom page size:
* This instruction is both for Printer driver and BR-Script printer driver.

  1. [Mac OS X 10.3.9 or 10.4.x users]
    Choose "Page Setup" from the File menu and open the Page Setup dialogue.

    [Mac OS X 10.5.x or later users]
    Open Print dialog. (Click here to see the details of how to open Print dialog.)
  2. Choose "Manage Custom Sizes" in the Paper Size.
  3. On the Custom Page Sizes dialogue, click +.
  4. Double click "Untitled" and enter a custom page size name.
  5. Enter the Page Size in Width and Height and click OK.
    The new custom page size name will be listed at the bottom of the choices.
