Title:
I'm using Windows®XP. I bought a Brother machine and I wish to use the network interface, what is the best way to install the device?

Description:

We recommend using the network installation from the CD-ROM included with the machine. Windows® XP allows you to print in a variety of ways over the network. The recommended method of network printing is TCP/IP printing. If you do not have the CD-ROM, follow the steps below.

  1. Click "Start" and then click "Printers and Faxes". Now click the "Add a printer" option and the following screen will be displayed. Click the "Next" button.

  2. Select the "Local printer attached to this computer" option and click "Next".

  3. From the "Create a new port" radio button select the "Standard TCP/IP Port" option and click "Next".
  4. The TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard software will now start. Click the "Next" button to proceed.

  5. Enter the IP address of the printer you wish to print to and click "Next".

Please note that the Port Name information is automatically updated.

  6. You will be asked if you wish to make the printer the default printer. Select "Yes" or "No" and then click "Next" to display the following screen.

  7. Select the proper printer and click "Next".

  8. Follow the rest of the Wizard screen prompts and your device will be ready to print.
