Title:
I install the drivers from the CD-ROM, but the installation failed and the following error message appears: "1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime". (For Windows® XP users only)

This error message appears depending on your computer's setting.

Follow the steps listed below to solve this problem by changing your computer's setting.

Windows® XP users only

  1. Click Start => Control Panel.

  2. Click Performance and Maintenance.

  3. Click Administrative Tools.

  4. Double-click Services.

  5. Double-click Windows Installer.

  6. From the Startup type dropdown, choose Automatic.

    Note

    Please note the setting of Startup type, because it is necessary to reset this setting to original setting in Step 11.

  7. Click Apply.

  8. Click Start.

    If the Service Control window appears, wait a while until the window disappears.

  9. Click OK.

  10. Install the driver again from the CD-ROM.

  11. After you finish installing the driver, repeat step1 to step9 and return the Windows Installer setting to original that was noted in step6.

  12. If you cannot install the driver after changing these settings, try to install the driver without paperport.

    To install the driver without paperport, choose MFL-Pro Suite without PaperPort™ SE under the Install Other Drivers or Utilities menu.*

    * The menu in the CD-ROM varies depending on your machine: such as Initial Installation, Advanced, or Custom Installation menu.

    Caution

    You cannot use OCR function if you don't install the paperport.
