I cannot find the Macintosh HD icon on the desktop.

Description:
Please follow the steps below to add your hard drive icon (Macintosh HD icon) to the desktop.

NOTE: Illustrations shown below are from a representative operating system, and may differ from your operating system.

  1. Choose Preferences... from the Finder menu.

    Finder menu

  2. Click the General icon on the toolbar.
  3. Check "Hard disks" in the "Show these items on the desktop:"

  4. Close the Finder Preferences window.
    Your hard drive icons will appear on the desktop.
