Title:

I am experiencing problems sending a fax.

Description:

If you are experiencing problems sending faxes, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Check the LCD does not display an error message, (e.g. scanner error).
  2. If the LCD is blank, remove the plug from the power outlet and then reconnect it, if the display remains blank your machine may require a service.  Please contact Brother Customer Service.
  3. Verify the machine is connected directly from the telephone socket in the wall to the socket labelled LINE on the machine.
  4. Verify the machine has a dial tone, if no tone is detected, remove the Brother telephone line cord (white) and connect a regular telephone to the socket in the wall, lift the handset and listen for a dial tone.  If no tone is detected the telephone line may be faulty.
  5. Take a regular telephone and connect it to the extension socket on the Brother telephone line cord (white), (ensure the telephone line cord is connected to the socket on the wall) lift the handset and listen for a dial tone.  If there is no dial tone the telephone line cord may be faulty.
  6. When placing the document in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), verify the LCD changes to Fax number press start or Res:standard depending on your model.  If the LCD does not change, remove and reinsert your document following the instructions in your user guide.  If the LCD still does not change your machine may require a service.  Please contact Brother Customer Service
  7. If you are having problems sending a fax to one number, verify that the number you are dialing is correct and that you hear fax tones when the receiving machine answers the line.
