Title:

When I scan a document using ControlCenter, the scanned file size is too big.

Description:

Changing the Resolution or Scan Type settings will solve the problem.
Follow the steps below to change the setting.

 

For Windows® Users:

  1. Open the ControlCenter.

    (Windows® 2000/ Windows® XP/ Windows Vista®/ Windows® 7)
    Click Windows/start -> (All) Programs -> Brother -> XXX-XXXX (Where XXX-XXXX is the model number of the machine) -> ControlCenterx.
    The ControlCenter application will be loaded in the Task Tray near the system clock. (It appears as a blue square labeled CCx.)

    (Windows® 8 or later)
    1. On the Start screen, right-click somewhere on an empty spot, and then click, All Apps from the bar.
    2. Click Brother Utilities.
    3. Select your model name from the pulldown list.
    4. Click ControlCenter.
      The ControlCenter application will be loaded in the Task Tray near the system clock. (It appears as a blue square labeled CCx.)

  2. Double-click on the ControlCenter icon located in the Task Tray to launch the program window.

For Macintosh Users:
  1. Open the ControlCenter by clicking Macintosh HD -> Library -> Printers -> Brother -> Utilities -> ControlCenter -> ControlCenter.app
    The ControlCenter application will be loaded in the Task Tray near the system clock.

  2. Click on the ControlCenter icon located in the Task Tray, and then click Open to launch the program window.

  3. Click on Configuration -> SCAN. Choose the type of scan you require. 


  4. The Scan to configuration window will appear.

  1. Check the Resolution and Scan Type settings, and try to change it.

    Resolution:
    This is a measure of the amount of detail in an image or a file. The bigger the number is, the bigger the file size is.


    Scan Type:
    You can choose the following scan types. Below we have listed the file size settings large to small:

    *24bit Color  (Largest file size)
    *True Gray
    *Gray(Error Diffusion)
    *Black & White (Smallest file size)

 

Note

So to greatly reduce the file size choose Black & White or if it has to be Color then reduce the Resolution.
