Please follow the steps below to solve this problem:
Step1: Check the Connection
To use the network scanning feature, you need to configure your Brother machine in the peer-to-peer network environment.

In a network shared environment, the scanning feature works from a server PC, but does not work from client PCs.

Step2: Check your Brother machine is available to print via network
Your Brother machine may not connect the network, so please try to print via network.
If you can not print via network, refer to "I cannot print from my computer via network (For Macintosh)".
Step3: Check the network scan settings
- Open the Device Selector from Macintosh HD/ Library/ Printers/ Brother/ Utilities/ Device Selector/ on your PC.
If the Device Selector does not exist, you need to install the scanner driver. Please go to Downloads section of this website and download Scanner Driver (TWAIN). The installation instructions are available on the download page.
- Choose Network for Connection Type and click Browse.
- Choose your Brother machine from the list, and click OK.
If your Brother scanner does not exist, you need to install the scanner driver. Please go to Downloads section of this website and download Scanner Driver (TWAIN). The installation instructions are available on the download page.
- Click OK.
Try to scan again
- Start ControlCenter2.
If you see the
icon in the menu bar, click the icon and choose Open.
If you do not see the icon in the menu bar, click Macintosh HD => Library => Printers => Brother => Utilities => ControlCenter => ControlCenter.app. The icon will be in the menu bar. Click the
icon and choose Open.
If the ControlCenter2 does not exist, you need to install the scanner driver. Please go to Downloads section of this website and download Scanner Driver (TWAIN). The installation instructions are available on the download page.

Click Image or OCR or E-mail or File. Check the scanning feature is available.
If the scanning feature is not available, uninstall the scanner driver and try to re-install. Please refer to "Uninstall the drivers." and go to Downloads section of this website and download Scanner Driver (TWAIN). The installation instructions are available on the download page.
Step4: Check the firewall settings
(For scan from the scan key on your Brother machine's control panel.)
The network scanning feature does not work when pressing the scan key on your Brother machine's control panel. This has occurred when using a software firewall. Please configure your software firewall to permit the application below.
