To adjust your Brother machine's paper type and size settings follow the instructions listed below:

To get the best print quality, set your Brother machine for the type of paper you're using.

When you change the size of the paper you load into your Brother machine, you must also change the machine's Paper Size setting.

To change the paper type and size settings for the next copy job, refer to "Setting paper type and size for the next copy job".
To change the default paper type and size setting for printing and copying, refer to "Changing the default Paper Type and Paper Size setting".

Note

You can only copy on Letter, Legal, A4, A5, or Photo Card [10 cm. (W) x 15 cm. (H) or 4 in. (W) x 6 in. (H)] paper.
You can use three paper sizes for printing faxes: Letter, Legal, and A4.

Setting paper type and size for the next copy job

(For models with FAX functions)
Press the COPY key to illuminate it.
Load your document.
Enter the number of copies you want.
Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Paper Type.
Press the OK key.
Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose a paper type.

You can choose Plain Paper, Inkjet Paper, Brother Photo, Other Photo, or Transparency.
Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Paper Size.
Press the OK key.
Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose a paper size.

You can choose Letter, Legal, A4, A5, or 10 x 15 cm (4" x 6").
Press the OK key.
If you do not want to change additional copy settings, press the Black (Mono) Start or Color (Colour) Start key to start copying.

Changing the default Paper Type and Paper Size settings

Press the MENU key.
Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose General Setup.
Press the OK key.
Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Paper Type.
Press the OK key.
Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose a paper type.

You can choose Plain Paper, Inkjet Paper, Brother Photo, Other Photo, or Transparency.
Press the OK key.
Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Paper Size.
Press the OK key.
Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose a paper size.

You can choose Letter, Legal, A4, A5, or 10 x 15 cm (4" x 6").
Press the OK key.
Press the STOP/EXIT key.

Note

The Brother machine ejects paper with the printed surface face up into the tray on the front of the machine. When you are printing on transparencies or glossy paper, please remove each page as it is ejected to prevent smudging or paper jams.
