To get the best print quality, set your Brother machine for the type of paper you're using.

  1. Press Menu.
  2. Press the up or down arrow key to select General Setup.
  3. Press OK.
  4. Press the up or down arrow key to select Paper Type.
  5. Press OK.
  6. Press the up or down arrow key to select the paper type you want to use.
    - You can select Plain Paper, Inkjet Paper, Brother BP71, Other Glossy, or Transparency
  7. Press OK.
  8. Press Stop/Exit.

Note

Your Brother machine ejects paper onto the paper tray in front of the machine with the printed surfaces face up. When you are printing on transparencies or glossy paper, please remove each page as it is ejected to prevent smudging or paper jams.

How to adjust your Brother machine's paper size settings:

You can use five sizes of paper for printing and copying: Letter, Legal, A4, A5, and 4 x 6 in (10 x 15 cm).
You can use three sizes for printing faxes: Letter, Legal, and A4.

When you change the size of the paper you load into your Brother machine, you must also change the machine's Paper Size setting.

  1. Press Menu.
  2. Press the up or down arrow key to select General Setup.
  3. Press OK.
  4. Press the up or down arrow key to select Paper Size.
  5. Press OK.
  6. Press the up or down arrow key to select the paper size you want to use.
  7. Press OK.
  8. Press Stop/Exit.
