Title:

I am using Windows® XP. I can print but cannot scan. What do I do?

Description:

The software on the CD provided with your machine is not compatible with Windows XP. You will need to uninstall and reinstall the appropriate drivers. To successfully uninstall Brother Drivers from XP, use the uninstall tool provided in the patch file program below.


  1. Click here to download the patch file program to begin the download process. You can follow the next steps with the download screens showing.

  2. After clicking, the following will appear. Click Save.

  3. Click Desktop and click Save to save the uninstaller on your Desktop.

  4. Once download is complete, the following will appear. Click Open. 

  5. A Zip Self Decompression window opens. Click Decompress.

  6. Decompression is successful. Click OK.

  7. On your desktop, double click the delinfXP.exe file.

  8. The un-installer wizard will appear. Make sure your model appears in the box and select the appropriate connection. Then, click OK.

    Note

    This screen is an example of the DCP-1000 parallel connection.

  9. Click Yes to restart your computer. Now, you have completed the driver uninstallation.

    Note

    After restarting your computer, you will need to reinstall the correct drivers. Go to http://www.brother.com/E-ftp/softwin.html to locate the driver for your unit. On this page, select the appropriate region located next to "Multifunction Machines". Then, select your model under FAX machines, Color Multifunction Machines or Monochrome (black and white) Multifunction Machines. You will then be brought to the download page for your model.
