Uninstall the drivers. (Mac OS X 10.6 or greater)

Note

If several Brother machines are installed to your Macintosh and you want to uninstall only one of the drivers, it is required that you uninstall all of them at once and then re-install the drivers for machines you need. (You cannot uninstall the driver of a specific machine on its own.)

How to uninstall the Printer Driver & Remote Setup Software (if applicable):

  1. Disconnect the USB cable between the Macintosh and your Brother machine.

  2. Log on as an "Administrator".

  3. Choose System Preferences from the Apple Menu.

  4. Click the Print & Fax or Print & Scan icon.

  5. Choose the machine and click the "-" button which is located below the Printers section.

  6. Repeat the Step 5 for all installed Brother machines and then drag the Brother folder (MacintoshHD => Library => Printers => Brother) into the Trash bin.

  7. Choose MacintoshHD => Library => Printers => PPDs => Contents to open the Resources folder, and drag all Brother xxx-xxxx CUPS.gz files and Brother xxx-xxxx.gz files into the Trash bin.

  8. Empty the trash bin.

  9. Reboot the Macintosh.

How to uninstall the Scanner Driver:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable between the Macintosh and your Brother machine.

  2. Log on as an "Administrator".

  3. Choose MacintoshHD => Library => Image Capture to open the Twain Data Sources folder.

  4. Delete the Brother TWAIN.ds.

  5. Then, you need to delete the ICA driver.
    Choose MacintoshHD => Library => Image Capture to open the Devices folder.

  6. Delete the Brother Scanner.
    *You will find this Brother Scanner file only when the bundled printer driver is installed. If you do not find Brother Scanner file, please go to Step 7.

  7. Empty the trash bin.

  8. Reboot the Macintosh.
