There is a lot of banding on the image. What can I do?

Note

    Print quality is affected by the type and brand of paper used as well as the selected print or copy resolution. In order to achieve optimum print quality, it is important to use the recommended paper for the type of document you are printing.

 

For copying

  • Change the copy quality to "Best" mode and press "Color Start" to start copying. Do the following to change the copy quality:

    1. Press the Copy Quality or Quality key on the control panel until BEST appears and press Menu/Set or Set.
    2. Press Stop/Exit.

  • Change the paper type setting. If the paper type is set to "Plain", change it to "Inkjet". If the paper setting is set to "Inkjet", change it to "Glossy". Do the following to change the paper type:

    1. On the Control Panel of the machine press the Copy Options or Options button.
    2. Press the up or down navigation key until PAPER TYPE appears on the LCD and press Menu/Set or Set.
    3. The current setting will appear on the LCD. Press the up or down navigation key until INKJET or GLOSSY appears. Your selection will depend on the current setting. Press Menu/Set or Set.
    4. Press Stop/Exit.

For PC printing
Depending on the current settings in the printer driver, you can make changes to the settings to improve print quality:

  1. In the printer driver, check on Enhanced Normal Printing.
    Do the following to access the printer driver and adjust the setting.

For Windows users:

  1. Windows® 98/ 98SE/ Me/ 2000 users:
    Click START -> SETTINGS -> PRINTERS.

    Windows® XP users:
    Click START -> PRINTERS AND FAXES.

  2. Right click the Printer Icon for your model and click Properties.

  3. Windows® 98/ 98SE/ Me users:
    Click the Basic tab.

    Windows® 2000/ XP users:
    Click the Printing Preference button and then click the Basic tab.

    Then click Settings and check Enhanced Normal Printing and  click OK.

For Mac OS® X users:

  1. Click FILE -> PRINT.
  2. In the Print dialog box choose Print Settings.
  3. Check on Enhanced Normal Printing.

 

 

 

For Mac OS® 8.6-9.2 users:

  1. Click FILE -> PRINT.
  2. Click the Settings.
  3. Check on Enhanced Normal Printing and click OK.

 

 

 

If you still continue to have banding:

  1. For the Image Type setting, select PHOTO .
  2. For the Color/Grayscale setting, select COLOR.
  3. For the Media Type setting, if the setting is currently "Plain Paper", change it to "Inkjet Paper". If the setting is currently "Inkjet Paper", change it to "Glossy Paper".

Do the following to access the printer driver and adjust these settings.


For Windows users:

  1. Windows® 98/ 98SE/ Me/ 2000 users:
    Click START -> SETTINGS -> PRINTERS.

    Windows® XP users:
    Click START -> PRINTERS AND FAXES.

  2. Right click the Printer Icon for your model and click Properties.

  3. Windows® 98/ 98SE/ Me users:
    Click the Advanced tab.

    Windows® 2000/ XP users:
    Click the Printing Preference button and then click the Advanced tab.

    In the "Color/Grayscale" section click Color and in the "Image Type" section click Photo.
  1. Click OK.

    Click the Basic tab.

    Windows® 2000/ XP users:
    Click the Printing Preference button and then click the Basic tab.

    Click the Basic tab and locate the "Media Type" section.
    If the current setting is "Plain Paper", change it to "Inkjet Paper".
    If the current setting is "Inkjet Paper", change it to "Glossy Paper".
    Click the drop down arrow to the right of the field to access the options.

  2. Click OK.

 

For Mac OS® X users:

  1. Click FILE -> PRINT.

  2. In the Print dialog box choose Print Settings.

  3. Locate the "Media Type" Section.
    If the current setting is "Plain Paper", change it to "Inkjet Paper".
    If the current setting is "Inkjet Paper", change it to "Glossy Paper".
    Click the drop down arrow to the right of the field to access the options.
  4. In the "Quality Section" click Photo and in the "Color/Grayscale" Section click Color.

 

 

 

For Mac OS® 8.6-9.2 users:

  1. Click FILE -> PRINT.
  2. Click Option... and in the "Image Type" Section click Photo.
  3. Click OK.

  1. In the "Color/Grayscale" Section click Color.
    In the "Media Type" Section,
    if the current setting is "Plain Paper", change it to "Inkjet Paper".
    If the current setting is "Inkjet Paper", change it to "Glossy Paper".
    Click the drop down arrow to the right of the field to access the options.
